چکیده

Conventional dredging of ditches and streams to ensure agricultural drainage flood mitigation can have severe environmental impacts. The aim this paper is investigate the potential benefits an alternative, nature-based two-stage channel (TSC) design with floodplains excavated along main channel. Through a literature survey, investigations at Finnish field sites expert interviews, we assessed performance, costs, monetary TSCs in comparison conventional dredging, as well bottlenecks their financing governance. We found evidence supporting expected longer-term functioning larger plant fish biodiversity compared dredging. TSC likely improves water quality since retain suspended sediment phosphorus remove nitrogen. In investigated case, additional value retention conservation protected species through was 2.4 times higher than total costs. demonstrate how be made eligible for obligatory vegetated riparian buffer European Union agri-environmental subsidy scheme (CAP-AES) by optimising spatial application respect other measures, recommend publicly finance costs priority sites. Further studies on impacts long-term performance channels are required.

Implementing IWRM in Iran Recommendations Based on Global Experiences

IWRM is an empirical concept which has been founded on the experience of water practitioners. In other words, it is not a scientific theory to be confirmed or rejected. In turn, it is a set of guidelines derived from conventional understanding of key elements of water management. Experience shows that the countries and governments who start reforms in water sector, focus on policy making, and l...

Planning an Agricultural Water Resources Management System: A Two-Stage Stochastic Fractional Programming Model

Irrigation water management is crucial for agricultural production and livelihood security in many regions and countries throughout the world. In this study, a two-stage stochastic fractional programming (TSFP) method is developed for planning an agricultural water resources management system under uncertainty. TSFP can provide an effective linkage between conflicting economic benefits and the ...

On two-stage fuzzy random programming for water resources management

In this paper, a two-stage fuzzy random programming for a management problem in terms of water resources allocation having fuzzy random variable coefficients and decision vector of random variables is studied. The first results show the fact that a fuzzy pseudorandom optimal solution of a two-stage fuzzy random programming may be resolved into a two of pseudorandom optimal solutions of relative...

Farmland biodiversity and agricultural management on 237 farms in 13 European and two African regions.

Farmland is a major land cover type in Europe and Africa and provides habitat for numerous species. The severe decline in farmland biodiversity of the last decades has been attributed to changes in farming practices, and organic and low-input farming are assumed to mitigate detrimental effects of agricultural intensification on biodiversity. Since the farm enterprise is the primary unit of agri...
